From the private to the historic to the state-of-the-art, a lavish tour of some of the most notable stables in the country. A celebration of horses and their “lodgings,” this exquisite book covers horse country across the United States—from the East Coast to the Bluegrass, the prairie and mountain ranches, and to the Pacific Coast—and traces the origins of twenty-five stunning stables, from their vernacular beginnings in the early nineteenth century to the contemporary designs of today. Included are a farm in the countryside near Saratoga Springs, New York, which bears an 1830s-constructed main barn that originally housed draft horses and now accommodates retired race horses turned polo ponies, and a world-renowned Arabian horse-breeding farm in Santa Ynez Valley, California, that resembles a spa and country club with Mediterranean-style architecture and landscaping and has in the stable courtyard a stone fountain reminiscent of the ubiquitous waterworks in Moorish palaces. Blenko Glass on display at Kong Lung Trading

BLENKO GLASS. Exquisite color, skilled craftsmen, and creative designs have made Blenko famous in the ancient craft of hand-blown glass. Over the years, talented designers have developed contemporary new designs for our skilled artisans, who have learned the difficult techniques of glass blowing through many years of practice.

The uniqueness of hand-blown glass cannot be compared to that of machine-formed glass – a process which produces items all exactly alike but without character. Because the glass is made in small batches and the processes are performed by hand, it is common to observe small air bubbles, lines or individual marks left by Blenko’s craftsmen. These are not flaws – but rather the distinctive nature of the hand-made process – which identify and magnify the uniqueness of each piece.

In a world of increasing automation and standardization, everyone at Blenko prides themselves in paying particular attention to the forms and designs, which stay true to the tradition of hand blown glass. Everyone all needs – now more than ever – hand made objects that are unique and inspiring.

Rootworks bowls on display at Kong Lung Trading

ROOTWORKS by Enricoproducts. Each of Enrico’s Root Works hand carved bowls, platters and vases are uniquely beautiful and stand alone as a natural work of art. These fantastic pieces are carved from a species of Chinese Fir called Shan Mu, which grows abundantly deep in the countryside of central China. The stumps left by logging are reclaimed prior to replanting and hand-carved by local artisans.

Tillson Vase at Kong Lung Trading

TILSON DESIGN WORKS. Created in lower Manhattan, Janna Tilson Weinstein’s work focuses on handmade, functional ceramics that blend modern designs with an organic sensibility. Her work is texturally driven with patterned carvings in her Aura and Lena lines and with raised multiple clay strands found in her Anemone Series. Tilson has developed her own original color palette using her own glaze recipes, which are dishwasher and food safe.

Whether you want a whole dinnerware set, a cool new vase or just settle on one amazing serving piece, Tilson’s work comes alive when its being used. Stop by and put one on your holiday wish list today.
